THE PEACE OF LEETING GO (the suffering of letting go)

Project Type

Photography

Date

April 2023

'The suffering of letting go' is to show the emotional turmoil that can arise from feeling of being forced to let go of something important to ourselves, even subconsciously! Having a strong overwhelming feeling in my stomach I needed to release it onto to paper as my mind could not fathom logistically at that time. In this artwork you will discover a lot of symbolism but before I touch base on this I will share the materials used with you first. As you may have noticed there is quite a spectrum of materials used which is to mirror the mixture of feelings that were present, using coloured pencils, water colours, fine liner pens, gel pens, acrylic paints and water based ink to create a powerful current of red for the blood, all colours place to create a symbiosis of a message... The symbolism, starting with the human figure below the wolf like creature, her hands are gone filled with dribbling blood orbs instead showing a symbolic representation of how we can be forced in letting go of something when holding onto suffering for too long, whilst it is a painful yet a human experience, there can also come great freedom from an experience, hence her facial expression, calm colours, and a calm demeaner, showing a deep trust in her soul. The wolf here is an egoic representation of the rampaging fear that can sometimes dictate our choices if not acknowledging the truth behind the surface (something unique and personal to each of us souls). The wolf here brakes the forth wall with its giant eye staring back at us, knowing that there is deep acknowledgment that needs to take place before going forward! with a shadow like existence following behind them both intertwined with gold and white pattern to represents the yin and yang for both the ego and the soul at play. The blue flowers is a much later edition to this piece, A way of showing my new found inner peace of the soul and ego, there are also a specific number of flowers and petals arranged strategically to represent hidden specific messages. I wont touch base with all the symbolism here as I strongly feel it is important for the viewer to discover their own interpretations within creativity and it also adds to the fun to have some mystery ;}
